What is Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide is a adjunct therapy to assist with medical weight loss.  It slows digestion and reduces appetite while lowering blood sugar. Tirzepatide mimics the actions of two incretin hormones that are important in controlling blood sugar and regulates appetitie. It is the only drug in its class to act on both of these receptors. Tirzepatide has been shown in clinical trials to help people lose and average of 25% of their initial body weight when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is one of the fasted ways to help you lose weight quickly and safely. 

How is Tirzepatide Dosed?

The dosages is slowly titrated  in increments every 4 weeks. Standard dosing is once  weekly with the usual initiation dose being 2.5mg. 

We recommend increasing your water intake daily due to increased thirst and helps keep your bowels moving.

How is Tirzepatide administered?

Tirzepatide is injected once a week subcutaneously either morning or night. It is recommended to be injected either in the belly or in the thigh. Alternating different injection sites every week.

What are the side effects of Tirzepatide

Contraindications of Tirzepatide.

  • History of medullary thyroid cancer or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) syndrome

  • Currently breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning to become pregnant

  • Currently being treated for cancer

  • Active eating disorder 

  • Active gallbladder disease 

  • Active substance abuse or dependency

  • Type I Diabetes 

  •  Bariatric surgery within the past 18 months 

  • Pancreatitis within the past 6 months or a history of pancreatitis caused by taking a GLP-1
